Each member of our team has had to study at least one foreign language at some point. We have all come to the same conclusion: There is a hard way to learn a language and there is a fun way to learn a language. Memorising grammar rules and vocabulary is certainly an important aspect of the learning experience, helping you build the basic skills you need to delve deeper into the foreign language.
However, the actual fun does not begin until you are able to follow news programmes, read books and watch movies in the language you are learning. It is at this point that your imagination ist really captured (even if you can understand only the odd item on the news or if it still takes you a long time to work your way through a book) and you can then turbo-charge your learning curve by adding humor to the language learning equation. And that is where Humor-Depot comes in.
One great thing about humour is that it tends to boil things down to simple points. Comedians
and humorists often use a minimum of words for a maximum of comic surprise and insight. When
we laugh, we are excited and relaxed at the same time and that is when we are most ready to learn. Watching
a four minute clip a german comedian on our website will provide a concentrated dose of modern German usage.
Even if your skills are rather modest, replay the video a couple of times, look up a few words in the dictionary, get used to the ring and the tone of the language. Every time you understand a little more and you will laugh about an aspect you missed at the beginning. The more you laugh, the more you enjoy and the more you get motivated to get another dosis of german language humor. That is where we want you. You have fun, you learn and you won`t even notice it, because you are so busy laughing.
